Kathy brings over 30 years of experience in skin health and aesthetics, supported by an Associate Degree in Dermal Science and extensive industry training. As a qualified Advanced Dermal Aesthetician and accredited trainer, she specialises in non-surgical dermal treatments designed to deliver safe, effective, and results-driven outcomes.

Her expertise covers a wide range of skin concerns, including ageing, pigmentation, acne and scarring, enlarged pores, rosacea, and dull or congested skin. Every treatment is carefully tailored to each client, combining advanced clinical knowledge with a genuine passion for helping people look and feel their best.

Why Gardenia?

The name “Gardenia” was chosen with deep intention and symbolism. The Gardenia flower, with its pristine white petals and golden center, is more than just a beautiful bloom; it represents hope, clarity, trust, and renewal—qualities that resonate deeply with our founder, Kathy Truong. In her personal practice and the philosophy at Gardenia Skin Co., these values are at the heart of everything we do. The white petals symbolise purity and clarity, reflecting our commitment to delivering clean, effective skincare solutions. The golden center embodies the warmth and trust we cultivate with every client, ensuring they feel cared for and valued.

Kathy's Story

Kathy is originally from Nha Trang, a coastal town in southern Vietnam. She arrived in Australia age 18 with her baby son, dreaming of a career in the beauty industry. Her fascination with cosmetics began at age 10, watching her sister make a moisturizer from rice water.

In the early 90s, Kathy faced the challenge of supporting herself and her son while sending money back home. She wanted to become a Skin and Beauty therapist but lacked the funds for education. To finance her studies, she became a Mary Kay consultant in 1994. Kathy began selling Mary Kay products door-to-door, often with her son in tow.

By 1995, Kathy had enough money to buy equipment and started her own business within Julie’s Hair Salon. Later that year, she opened her own Beauty Salon and eventually a Beauty College in 2006, which operated for 13 years, gaining over 500 students annually. However, the intense work began to affect her, and she learned the importance of work-life balance.

After retiring from her businesses, Kathy joined ICCM, working with leading surgeons to provide non-surgical treatments and post-surgical care. Her passion for beauty remained strong, leading her to earn an Associate Degree in Dermal Science and gaining qualifications in Life Coaching and Yoga. Kathy became a well-known Yoga Teacher in Bondi, offering free classes and fostering a sense of community. Her work as a Life Coach also proved useful with her skin clinic patients, helping them achieve balance and prioritize their goals.

Kathy founded Gardenia Skin Co, emphasizing the relationship between skin health, beauty therapy, and a stress-free life. She sees her treatments as part of a holistic approach to self-care, promoting physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. Kathy’s philosophy centres on empowerment, self-care, and self-love. She believes that true beauty comes from a combination of skincare, nutrition, exercise, and mental peace. Her holistic approach helps clients discover their best selves at Gardenia Skin Co.
